“Think About It”

The story is told that a man was being tailgated by a stressed out woman on a busy downtown street. As they approached a busy intersection - suddenly, the traffic light turned yellow, just in front of him. The man did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, and in the process dropping her cell phone and makeup.

As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up.

He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell. After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.

He said, “I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you, and cussing a blue streak at him.  I noticed the 'What Would Jesus Do?' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'Follow me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the chrome plated Christian Fish emblem on the trunk; naturally ... I assumed you had stolen the car.”

Although this is a fictionalized humorous story – it also should give us cause to pause and consider;

“How often are we like the woman in this story”?

“How does the world see us – in our daily walk of faith?”

And more importantly, “How are WE shinnning the light for Christ in our everyday living”?

Are we only at “our Christian best” on Sunday mornings and on Wednesday nights”?  Do we live out our Christian faith everyday or only on some days and toward only “some people” and some of the times?

If we are to shine the light for Christ in our lives and if we are true followers of His Holy Word – and if we have a true conviction of our hearts for our Loving and Merciful Lord and Saviour - then we can’t put on our Christian game face just some of the time – instead we have to show the world that we are true and sincere in our faith and to our God ALL the time and toward ALL people and we need to be true to His Holy and infallible Word in and throughout every step of our way – each and everyday.

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16, NIV

The light that reveals the grandeur of our house also illumines the dust under the sofa, the flaws in the carpet, and the smudges on the wall. So maybe it is time for a little bit of house / life cleaning - and who better to call for all our House / Life-cleaning services than our all wonderful and all loving and merciful and caring Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Pray and ask Him to help you clean up your walk of faith today and then find a true commitment within your heart - to keep it clean ... all the rest of your days.
